On-loan Lens defender Daniel Opare claims he is key to the French Ligue 2 side despite resentments by some of the club's fans.

The former Real Madrid youth team player was among three players fans voted they do not want to see out of the club.

After the poll, Karim Hafez topped with 1,686 votes representing 96% to be sacked followed by Kermit Erasmus : 3% (55 votes)

Opare came in third with 1% after amassing 13 votes.

But the former Ghana international claims he is regarded key to the club's promotion campaign.

''I've played seven matches and thrice on the bench. In total 10 appearances out of 11 since I came here,'' he told GHANASoccernet.com

''The only game I wasn't involved was the last match before the international break because I was not feeling well.''

Opare moved to the French second-tier from German Bundesliga side Augsburg.
