Opeele: Ghana football to blame for Kingston's woes

Published on: 30 December 2010

Controversial football coach and pundit Isaac Boateng 'Opeele' says Ghana football should be blamed for the recent misfortunes of midfielder Laryea Kingston.

The ex Hearts of Oak player was axed by Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem earlier this week lasting just 6months of his one-year deal with the Eredivisie side.

It is the second consecutive time in just over a year the 30-year-old has experienced the similar fate following his acrimonious departure from Scottish side Hearts of Midlothian.

However, Opeele (former Kotoko and King Faisal coach) says blame should be put right on the doorstep of Ghana football of which all including himself is apart of.

"I will directly place the blame of the current misfortunes of Kingston on the doorstep of Ghana football," he said.

"We have been very ungrateful to he lad and we can now all see the effects of our acts by dropping him for the World Cup.

"In Brazil for instance, players are even handed call-ups not entirely because of their performance but rather to help them get their careers back on track so they come back to help the nation later, but not Ghana."

Kingston sat out Ghana's first participation at the World Cup in Germany 2006 due to suspension after helping the nation through the qualification series.

He was again left out of the side for the 2010 World Cup after failing to make Milovan Rajevac's final 23-man squad to South Africa.
