Opeele predicts clash in philosophy could lead to failure by new Hearts coach Herbert Addo
Hearts of Oak will play under coach Herbert Addo

Ex-Ghana international youth coach Isaac Opeele Boateng fears that coach Herbert Addo is unlikely to catapult Hearts of Oak to great heights because of a clash in philosophy with the club's board chairman.

Togbe Afede says he wants the Phobians to play fluent football like Spanish giants Barcelona which resulted in the sacking of coaches David Duncan and Mohammed Polo.

Opeele says with Addo being defensive minded in his philosophy this could lead to a clash with the Hearts of Oak chief, claiming the board chairman know little about the game.

"Togbe we all know does not know anything about football. At meetings with Duncan David he sometimes asked why Hearts do not play like Barcelona," Opeele said.

"Duncan got sacked and when Polo came on board, he faced similar challenges and is also gone now.

"Togbe like Abramovic is calling that Hearts of Oak plays beautiful football. But the Herbert Addo we all know is a defensive minded coach.

"I coached with him at Kotoko and his philosophy is defending. Now Hebert too is saying he will play beautiful football. That is why I am afraid for him”, he added.

“Hebert’s case is like Jose Mourinho. In Jose Mourinho’s second coming to Chelsea, he promised beautiful football but when he got beaten by Swansea City, Sunderland and Aston Villa, he reverted to packing the bus.”

Addo promised to play the entire season unbeaten when he was unveiled as the coach of the Phobians last week and Opeele says the coach must be measured given the quality of players he has in his team.

“Hearts cannot play good attacking football. It won’t help him. Hearts do not have those kind of players to do the job. When Duncan was there, he built a team based on good defense. You can’t change that overnight”, Opeele ended.
