Bafana Bafana captain Dean Furman praised his sides character following their 1-1 draw with Cameroon in Libreville, Gabon on Saturday.

Sibusiso Vilakazi's second-half strike cancelled out Vincent Aboubakar's opener to keep South Africa's unbeaten record under Shakes Mashaba intact.

Aboubakar's free-kick was the first time South Africa had found themselves behind since Mashaba took over the reins from Gordon Igesund.

South Africa though managed to regroup following a disappointing first 45 to dominate most of the second stanza and keep their preparations on track.

“It was a good test for us, they are obviously a very good side, they are going to have I'm sure a very successful tournament so it was a great test for us. We got off to the worst possible start but I thought we showed great character to come back fighting in the game and in the end we are disappointed not to win it," Furman said in the aftermath.

“We have a lot of confidence going into the games and believe we can do very well in the tournament."

Bafana continue their preparation for the 2015 African Cup of Nations on Wednesday, with an international friendly match against Mali.
