The Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Oti Akenteng says the delay in the start of the 2017/18 Ghana Premier League is helping some clubs to keep their teams in good shape ahead of their opening matches.

The 2017/18 Ghana Premier League which was due to begin two weeks ago has been postponed indefinitely after Great Olympics served the Ghana FA with a court injunction in a protest against Bechem United for fielding an unqualified player against them last season.

And with the start unknown, clubs have resorted to playing friendly games to sharpen their rough edges, which Oti Akenteng believes will yield result when the campaign finally commences.

“Indeed, the delay in the start of the league is a worry to most of the club chairmen and their administrators. But I believe that this period is being used to streamline activities in both the playing body and the clubs as well” he said.

“Not only the Premier League clubs, but also the many Division One team all over the country are using this time to do a lot, so that, when the season starts, [they] will not encounter any problems. We are all praying that this matter will be resolved quickly so that the season will start” he added.
