Sunderland’s pursuit of Mahatma Otoo has been handed a massive boost with the striker revealing his life ambition of playing in the Premiership.

The Hearts of Oak captain is thought to have been watched closely by scouts of the Black Cats and it’s now appearing that a deal to take him to the Stadium of Light is well on the cards.

However, French giants Olympique Lyon are also reported to be hot on the heels of the 21-year-old and are prepared to go head-to-head with the English club for Otoo’s signature.

The ex Sporting Mirren attacker is in his second spell at the Accra-based club after spending some time on loan with Tunisian side Esperance Sportive De Tunis in 2010.

His impressive performance for Hearts in recent games has caught the attention of a number of clubs but so far Sunderland any Lyon are the only two to take a serious interest.

The player is aware of the interest from both clubs, but he’s more keen to try his luck in England.

“I am delighted with my season so far,” he said.

“There is interest from other clubs. I have heard about Lyon through the papers.”

“I have heard about Sunderland as well. I would love to play in England one day.

“My destiny will take me there and it is my dream to score at Old Trafford, the Emirates, Anfield and Wembley.”

Aapart from catching the eye of European clubs, Otoo also earned him his debut call to the Black Stars for the crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against Sudan.

He however has to wait a bit more longer to make his Ghana debut as he remained on the substitute bench in the comprehensive 4-0 win over the Nile Crocodiles.
