Ex Ghana striker Dan Owusu has urged the Ghana FA to implore the services of retired footballers to help improve performance at the various national teams especially the striking department.

The local game has increasingly been rid of goal-scoring and this has translated into the national team but the three-time goal king says its about time they got involved for the good of the game.

"The goalscoring rate in this country has really gone down, it is not like the 70's where some of us were crowned top scorers," Owusu told GHANAsoccernet.com.

"People like myself, Opoku Afriyie, Emmanuel Quarshie, Willie Klutse and others want to help with our expertise and experience only if the GFA would allow us to so we can improve goalscoring rate in this country."

Recent top scorers in the Ghana league have failed to bag more than 18 goals in a whole season unlike previously where it was so competitive that scoring even 25 goals could deny one from winning the prestigious accolade.
