Palermo in contact with potential takeover party

Published on: 04 September 2016

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini could soon be in serious talks with an interested party to sell the Serie A side.

Zamparini and former Rosanero coach Davide Ballardini parted ways earlier this week, with Roberto De Zerbi expected to be his replacement, making him the 10th coaching change since the beginning of the 2015/16 season, but Zamparini’s reign at the top may soon be coming to an end.

In a statement on the club’s official website, it was revealed that the relevant groups involved with Palermo have been put in contact with a group led by potential buyer Frank Cascio.

No solid figures were announced, but the club did confirm Cascio has a solid interest to buy the club.

The statement concluded that, if both parties were certain, negotiations would begin concerning a potential takeover.

Zamparini has been in charge at Palermo since 2002, and two years later they were promoted back into Serie A.
