Ghana midfielder Afriyie Acquah hopes to be rewarded for his consistent performances in the Italian top flight with a return to the Black Stars team for the 2014 World Cup.

The 22-year-old has played 17 out of the 27 games played by Parma in Serie-A this term.

Acquah has been in superb form since his loan return to Italy from his nightmarish time while with TSG Hoffenheim.

The ex Palermo man is knocking strongly on the doors of the Black Stars team with less than three months to the World Cup in Brazil.

Acquah, on current form deserves to join the Ghana team for the World Cup but is contesting in the strongest midfield department.

The 22-year-old however hopes his impressive displays in Italy will ultimately buy him a return to the team for the world’s biggest showpiece in June.

“With the way I am playing now, I have the expectation to return to the Black Stars team,” he told Peace FM.

“I only hope what I am doing here in Italy catches the attention to the technical handlers.”

Acquah has not played for the Black Stars team since scoring in the 1-0 win over Malawi in the ultimate qualifier for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
