Patrick Kluivert turned down Black Stars coaching offer due to wife's ill-health

Dutch legend Patrick Kluivert has cited his wife’s ill-health as the chief reason for turning down the chance to coach the Black Stars.

The 38-year-old was hugely tipped to replace Kwesi Appiah but he shockingly pulled out of the ace after been short-listed for the job.

The ex-Barcelona and Ajax goal machine has revealed his wife’s healthy condition made it impossible for him to take up the role.

"At that time I couldn't have taken another job because of my wife's illness," he explained.

"Now I'm ready to make a big jump for myself. I'm really looking for a club or a possibility in the near future to get a chance to lead training as a manager or work as an assistant to a very good coach.”

Kluivert’s wife, Rossana, was diagnosed with lymphoma, a form of cancer that affects the immune system.
