Ghanaian players returned to action after the international break with most Black Stars players losing them regular starting spots but there were goals to report. 

Elvis Manu grabbed his first league goal for Feyenoord by scoring a brace while Richmond Boakye-Yiadom climbed off the bench to score the match winner for Atalanta in the Serie A.

There were also goals for Patrick Twumasi in Kazakhstan, Jonathan Opoku in the Dutch second-tier and Albert Adomah for Middlesbrough in the English Championship.

ENGLAND

Christian Atsu failed to make the Everton squad when they posted a comfortable 3-0 win over Aston Villa at the Goodison Park on Saturday.

Defender Jeffrey Schlupp started for Leicester City and played until the 56th minute when he was replaced.

Youngster Hiram Boateng could not make the Crystal Palace first team grades when Chelsea posted a 2-1 win over them at the Selhurst Park in a London derby.

In the Championship, winger Albert Adomah scored what proved to be the match-winner for Middlesbrough as they beat Brighton and Hove Albion 2-1 on Saturday.

Young midfielder Bernard Mensah failed to make the Watford squad when they travelled to beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-0.

Norwegian international of Ghanaian descent Alexander Tettey was a full timer for Norwich City as they slipped to a 1-0 loss against Fulham at the Craven Cottage.

Koby Arthur lasted the entire duration of the game for Birmingham City who suffered a 1-0 home loss at the hands of Bolton Wanderers.

In the Legaue One, former Chelsea youth team captain Nana Ofori-Twumasi was in full time action for Yeovil Town when they shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Swindon Town.

Elsewhere in the League Two, Bury buried Portsmouth 3-0 at the Gigg Lane on Saturday. In second-half action for Portsmouth was former Ghana striker Patrick Agyemang who came off the bench to play the 28 minutes.

Former Arsenal youth team striker Abu Ogogo was red-carded in the 80th minute as his Dagenham & Redbright United slipped to a 1-0 home loss at the hands of Newport County.

SCOTLAND

In the Premiership, Black Stars winger Wakaso Mubarak sat on the bench for Celtic who cruised to a 5-0 win over Ross County at their own backyard.

Ghanaian midfielder Abdul Osman was booked in the 70th minute and played the entire 90 minutes for Partick Thistle who slipped to a 1-0 loss at the hands of Dundee United on Saturday.

In the Championship, midfielder Prince Buaben scored the second goal for Hearts of Midlothian who kept their promotion ambitions on track with a 5-0 goal rout at Dumbarton. He expertly converted from the spot.

RUSSIA

Kuban' Krasnodar were mauled by CSKA Moscow who drilled them 6-0 in the Russian Premier League on Saturday afternoon. Ghana midfielder Rabiu Mohammed was benched.

SPAIN

Midfielder Derek Boateng came off the bench to play for Eibar who lost 3-0 at Barcelona in the La Liga on Saturday evening.

Young midfielder Fatau Mohammed was axed from the Rayo Vallencano first team squad when they won 1-0 at his former club Granada CF on Friday.

Starlet Paul Quaye failed to make the Malaga first team squad in their 2-1 win at Cordoba.

In the Segunda Division, Ghana keeper Razak Brimah returned to action for Mirandes and kept the post as they won 3-2 over Albacete.

Elsewhere in the Segunda B, former Asante Kotoko midfielder Michael Anaba set up two goals for Elche II who beat Reus Deportiu 2-1 on Sunday evening.

Young midfielder Benjamin Akoto Asamoah played the entire 90 minutes for Atletico Madrid II when they drew 2-2 with Guadalajara on Saturday.

Ghana pair of Richard Boateng and Clifford Aboagye were in action for Granada II who beat Marbella 1-0 at the own back yard. Yeboah Ibrahim was not in the Granada squad for the game.

Cadiz stretched their unbeaten run to four games after beating Cacereño 2-1. Ghanaian youngster George Ofosu could not make the Cadiz squad for the game.

NETHERLANDS

In the Eredivisie, Groningen and Excelsior shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw on Sunday. Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Johan Kappelhof was not in the Groningen team for the game.

In other games, Dordrecht were beaten 3-1 at the own grounds by FC Utrecht. Belgian-born Ghanaian defender Marvin Peersman played the entire match for Dordrecht while attacker Erixon Danso came off the bench to play for Dordrecht. Youngster Rodney Antwi could not make the Utrecht squad for the game.

Shadrach Eghan was not in the FC Twente squad that held Ajax Amsterdam to a 1-1 on Saturday. Kenny Tete was dropped from the first team by Ajax.

NAC Breda and ADO Den Haag battled to a 1-1 draw on Sunday. Ghanaian-Italian Kingsley Boateng played the entire match for Breda while Dutch-born attacking midfielder Jeffrey Sarpong was introduced by Breda in the last 23 minutes of the game.

Ghanaian attacker Elvis Manu grabbed both goals for Feyenoord who won 2-1 against Heracles Almelo. In action for Heracles was Ghanaian Edwin Gyasi who came off the bench to play.

Raymond Gyasi could not make the AZ Alkmaar squad when they lost 3-0 at PSV Eindhoven.

In the second-tier league, NEC Nijmegen remained firm control of leadership at the league with a 3-1 win over Den Bosch on Sunday. Defender Marcel Appiah was in full time action for NEC.

Ajax II drew 2-2 with Helmond Sport. Ghanaian trio of Kenny Tete, Leeroy Owusu and Elton Acolatse all started the game and completed for Ajax II.

Forward Jonathan Opoku scored the opening goal for Oss who beat FC Eindhoven 3-0 on Sunday. 

In the third-tier league, Ghanaian attacker Kenneth Misa-Danso scored for Ajax Amateur who drew 1-1 with HSV Hoek on Sunday. Midfielder Sir Ralph Owusu also played the entire match for Ajax Amateur.

FRANCE

Andre Ayew was in full time action and was booked in the 80th minute as his Olympique Marseille won 2-0 against visiting Toulouse in the Ligue 1 on Sunday.

French-born defender Dennis Appiah was not in action for Caen who held Bordeaux to a 1-1 on Sunday.

Attacker Jordan Ayew missed Lorient's 1-0 home loss against Saint-Étienne due to suspension.

Black Stars defender Jonathan Mensah was dropped to the Evian TG bench when they lost 2-0 at AS Monaco on Saturday.

Kwame Nsor continued his rehab and was out of the Metz squad as they drew 0-0 with Stade Rennes on Saturday.

In the Ligue de Nationale, Ghanaian midfielder Ben Amofa was not in the Strasbourg team when they lost 2-1 at Chambly.

In other games, former Ghana U17 attacker Charles Boateng was in action for Avranches who beat Le Poiré-sur-Vie 1-0 on Friday.

ITALY

Sassuolo held Juventus to a 1-1 draw. Both Kwadwo Asamoah and Raman Chibsah watched the game from Juventus and Sassuolo benches respectively.

Isaac Cofie played the entire game for Chievo Verona who lost 3-0 at AS Roma on Saturday.

AC Milan moved to fifth on the log after posting a 3-1 win over Hella Verona. Both Michael Essien and Sulley Muntari started and completed the game for Milan.

Ghana striker Boakye-Yiadom struck in the 90th minute to give Atalanta a 1 -0 win over Parma. He came off the bench to score. In full time action for Parma was Ghana midfielder Afriyie Acquah.

Cagliari and Sampdoria drew 2-2 in a nail-biting clash on Sunday. Inter Milan loanee Alfred Duncan started the game for Sampdoria but young midfielder Godfred Donsah came off the bench in the 55th minute to play for Cagliari. Duncan was replaced in the 76th minute.

Palermo posted a 2-1 win over Cesena. Swedish-Ghanaian Robin Quaison was on the Palermo bench.

In other games, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu came off the bench to play for Udinese who lost 1-0 at Torino.

In the Serie B, leaders Frosinone made it 9 wins out of 9 after beating Modena 2-0. There was neither Amidu Salifu and Maxwell Acosty in the Modena squad for the game. Amidu is injury but Acosty could not make the squad for the game.

Carpi beat Latina 2-1. Fiorentina loanee Nii Nortey Ashong sat on the Latina bench.

GERMANY

Kevin-Prince Boateng was in action Schalke 04 who beat Hertha Berlin 2-0 in the Bundesliga on Saturday. He was replaced in the 76th minute.

Elsewhere in other games, Baba Rahman came off the bench to set up the consolation goal for Augsburg who lost 2-1 at Mainz 05 on Saturday.

Borussia Dortmund cruised to a 3-0 win at the hands of Hannover 96. American-born could-be Ghanaian Joe Gyau missed the game due to suspension.

In the Bundesliga II, Aalen held Karlsruher SC to a o-0 draw on Saturday. Ghanaian defender Philemon Ofosu-Aryeh played the entire match for Aalen.

Young defender Manfred Osei-Kwadwo could not make the Kaiserslautern squad when they drew 1-1 with Heidenheim on Saturday.

In the Liga 3, midfielder Evans Owusu Nyarko was brought on in the last minutes when his Borussia Dortmund II drew 2-2 with Osnabrück.

TURKEY

Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris started the match but failed to score for Trabzonspor who beat Mersin ?dmanyurdu 3-0 on Sunday. He was replaced in the 75th minute of the game.

In other games, Ghana defender Jerry Akaminko was not in the Eski?ehirspor when they held Bursaspor to a 2-2 draw on Sunday.

In the Lig I, former Asante Kotoko midfielder Yussif Chibsah was not in action for Alanyaspor who drew 1-1 with Denizlispor on Sunday.

PORTUGAL

Attacker Osei Barnes played Paços de Ferreira who beat Atlético SC 4-0 in the Portuguese Cup.

Bernard Mensah played for Rio Ave who pipped Coimbroes 1-0 in the same competition.

BELGIUM

Injured Bennard Kumordzi missed Genk's 3-1 win over Westerlo due to injury. Dutch-born defender Mitch Apau was in action for Westerlo.

Nana Asare was in full-time action for KAA Gent who drew 2-2 with Sporting Charleroi on Saturday.

Club Brugge posted a 3-1 win over Lokeren on Saturday. Denis Odoi played the entire regulation minutes for Lokeren but young attacker Eugene Ansah could not make the Lokeren squad for the game.

Winger Frank Acheampong played the entire second-half for Anderlecht who drew 1-1 with KV Mechelen. French-born Ghanaian defender Jerry Vandam played the last 30 minutes of the game for Mechelen.

Kortrijk beat Waasland-Beveren 3-1. Ghana defender David Addy missed the game with suspension.

In the Second Division, KV Mechelen loanee Abdul Iddi Yekinu played 70 minutes for OH Leuven who drew 1-1 with Excelsior Virton.

Elsewhere at the Stadion am Kehrweg, Stephen Asamoah played the entire 90 minutes of the game for AS Eupen who drew 1-1 with Patro Eisden.

William Owusu was in action for Antwerp and helped them beat Heist 2-0 on Saturday.

CZECH REPUBLIC

On Saturday, both Francis Narh and Derek Mensah both started the game for Banik Ostrava who drew 0-0 with Vyso?ina Jihlava.

Dutch-born Ghanaian attacker Kevin Luckasssen was on the bench for Slovan Liberec who drew 2-2 with Slovácko on Sunday afternoon. Isaac Sackey missed the game.

SWEDEN

AIK Solna cruised to a 4-0 win over Brommapojkarna. Ghanaian duo of Moro Ibrahim and Ebenezer Ofori both started and completed the game for AIK but attacker Kwame Karikari could not make the squad for the game.

IFK Göteborg posted a 3-2 win over BK Hacken. Attacker Nasiru Mohammed played 82 minutes for Hacken but Augustine Okrah and Richard Donkor could not make the Hacken squad for the game.

Mohammed Abubakari was not in the Åtvidaberg team when they beat Mjallby 2-1. Former Heart of Lions midfielder Kwame Bonsu played full throttle for Mjallby. Emmanuel Boakye sat on the Åtvidaberg bench.

King Osei-Gyan and Joseph Baffo were both in action for Halmstad BK who beat Kalmar FF 3-1.

Enock Adu Kofi played 74 minutes of the game for Malmo FF who lost 2-1 against Elfsborg.

NORWAY

Ghana keeper Adam Kwarasey was in action for Stromsgodset who beat Lillestrøm 2-1. Mohammed Abu and Bismark Adjei-Boateng were also in action for Stromsgodset. Divine Naah was not in the Stromsgodset team for the game.

Former Hearts of Oak attacker Mahatma Otoo played 62 minutes for Sogndal IF who lost 1-0 against Sandnes Ulf.

Ernest Asante played 62 minutes for IK Start who lost 2-1 against Aalesund on Saturday.

Former Ghana U17 captain Paul Addo sat on the bench for Bryne who lost 4-1 at Tromsdalen in the second-tier league.

SOUTH AFRICA

Defender Kwabena Adusei scored for Mpumalanga Black Aces who beat Moroka Swallows 3-2 on Saturday. Midfielder Edwin Gyimah was not in the Black Aces team for the game.

Former Ghana defender John Pantsil was in full-time action for Maritzburg United who beat Platinum Stars 3-1. Anas Moahmmed sat on the bench but Awal Mohammed was not in the Maritzburg squad for the game.

Ghanaian midfielder John Arwuah was on the AmaZulu bench when Chippa United defeated them 1-0 on Sunday.

SAUDI ARABIA

Former Hearts of Oak winger Winful Cobbinah played 85 minutes for Najran who suffered a 1-0 home loss against Al Faisaly.

FINLAND

VPS held champions HJK to a 1-1 draw. Ghana midfielder Anthony Annan was rested by HJK while defender Gideon Baah sat on the bench.

UAE

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan sustained an injury and has been ruled out for up to 8 days while in action for Al Ain in their Arabian Gulf League win over Al Dhafra. He came off the bench to play in the game.

USA

English-born Ghanaian Lloyd Sam scored the consolation goal for New York Red Bulls who suffered a 3-1 home loss against Columbus Crew.

DC United posted a 2-1 win over Chicago Fire. Ghana defender Samuel Inkoom and Canadian-born Ghanaian Kofi Opare both warmed he bench for DC United. Patrick Nyarko came off the bench to play for Fire.

In other games, Dominic Oduro played the last ten minutes for Toronto FC who drew 1-1 with nine-man Montreal Impact on Saturday.

KAZAKHSTAN

SWITZERLAND

Samuel Afum played the entire first-half for BSC Young Boys who lost 1-0 against FC Basel on Saturday in the Super League.
