Ghana midfielder Mohammed Abu's contribution for Major League Soccer side Columbus Crew did not go unnoticed as the Ohio-based club eulogize the performance of the player in the just ended season.

The workaholic enforcer made 20 appearances (14 starts) in 2017 and registered one assist.

The 26-year-old made his regular-season team debut as a starter in the Opening Match against the Chicago Fire.

The former Manchester City midfielder missed the Atlanta United FC while on international duty with Ghana but returned to start in an international friendly against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Abu registered his first MLS career assist, starting in the home match against the LA Galaxy and then started in a home match against FC Dallas, earning a spot on MLSSoccer.com’s Team of the Week for his performance.

He made three appearances (two starts) as a center midfielder in the Audi 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs en route to the Eastern Conference Championship.
