Pioli: Lazio are in a difficult moment

Lazio coach Stefano Pioli says his side are going through a difficult period after Monday’s 1-1 draw with Sampdoria at the Stadio Olimpico.

Alessandro Matri headed the Biancocelesti ahead after 78 minutes but saw his effort cancelled out by a stoppage time equaliser from Ervin Zukanovic to earn Sampdoria a share of the spoils in Rome.

“It was a difficult game, we struggled against a side that closed all the spaces,” Pioli told Premium Sports.

“But we had the game in our hands and we paid dearly at the end. I feel we have worked well in the games but it becomes more complicated when you don’t win.

“Tonight is a signal we are in a difficult moment, but we have to do something more.”

The 50-year-old coach was asked about his future after a poor run of results in the league.

“Until now I feel I have the confidence of everyone around me,” he added.

“Tomorrow I’ll be at work and the club will make their own assessments.”

Lazio travel to face Inter in Serie A on Sunday night at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
