Plymouth Argyle manager Derek Adams is taking half-credit for the quick rise of Crystal Palace midfielder Hiram Boateng.

Boateng, 20, has been hailed after he impressed on his Premier League debut for the Eagles.

The hugely talented midfielder spent three months on loan with the League Two outfit but his loan deal was curtailed due to an ankle ligament injury.

While Plymouth Argle are keen to sign the Ghanaian on loan for the second time, manager Derek Adams claims the Home Park outfit played a part in the player making his Premier League debut.

Adams said: "I'm delighted for him. He performed very well when he was with us and his progress has been accelerated because of that.

"I think we played a part in his development. When somebody comes into the football club, we try to look after them."

As for Boateng and a possible return to Home Park, Adams said: "We would still like to have him back in the squad before the end of the season."
