Polo backs coach David Duncan to succeed at Hearts

Hearts legend Mohammed Polo has backed newly appointed coach David Duncan to succeed at the club.

The former Ghana Under-17 trainer has signed a three-year deal with the 2000 African champions and tasked with the responsibility of turning around their downward spiral.

The 45-year-old has replaced CK Akunnor who was sacked last month for poor results.

Duncan’s first game in charge will be a difficult away tie at arch-rivals Asante Kotoko on Sunday and Polo has no doubts he can be an instant hit at the club.

“I have known Duncan for many years. I can say he is one of my boys because I coached him at Great Olympics,” Polo told Radio XYZ

“He is a strict disciplinarian and I believe he will step his foot down and take charge of the team.

“He comes into the job with lots of experience and great philosophy and I will just urge him to ensure he does not entertain any sort of interference from any quarters.

“I believe he will succeed at the club.”

The tough-talking coach has previously coached Ashantigold, Hasaacas and South African-based Free State Stars
