Portuguese champions FC Porto have loaned talented Ghanaian teenager Christian Atsu to top flight side Rio Ave, MTNFootball.com can confirm.

The 19-year-old, nicknamed ''New Messi", had pre-season training with the Porto first team but cannot be guaranteed playing time.

Atsu was promoted to the Porto senior side by new Chelsea coach Andre Villas-Boas.

He made it to the bench in the side's final league match at the Estadio do Dragao.

"I have now been loan to Rio Ave. I hope to make the best out of my move here," he told MTNFootball.com

Atsu was named the best player at this year's Blue Stars Fifa Youth tournament to help Porto lift the trophy.

He scored three goals in five matches at the tournament.
