Ghana defender John Mensah says he is almost back to full fitness after joining Slovakian side Nitra FC.

Mensah, 31, has signed for  Nitra FC after leaving French outfit Stade Rennes.

The former Sunderland man has seen a rather fine career wrecked by recurrent injuries over the years.

But he is delighted to have finally sealed the move to the Slovakian top-flight side and confident he will get to the top level.

“By God's grace I will be playing soon which is welcome news,” said Mensah

“I had been training on my own for some time now so fitness wise I am almost there.

“ I just need a few warm up game to be able to get to my top level. I'm just happy to be given the opportunity to show my mettle.”

Mensah played for the Black Stars at the last two World Cups in Germany and South Africa in 2006 and 2010 respectively.

He has 79 caps under his belt.
