Premier League boss Welbeck Abra-Appiah has announced he will resign from his post after the final round of matches on 5 June, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.

Abra-Appiah has been largely credited with the transformation of the current format of the top-flight league despite been rocked with problems.

He was billed to be hauled before the ethics committee of the Ghana FA after he openly criticized a decision involving AshantiGold and Mighty Jets by the disciplinary committee of the federation.

"Yes I can say that upon sober reflection I will quit my post as the Ghana Premier League boss after the last round of matches in the league on Sunday," Abra-Appiah told Happy FM.

"Jones Abu Alhassan and myself among few others have served Ghana Football in different capacities for many years and I think it's time for others to continue from where I have left off to spend quality time with my family."

He rejected claims that he was quitting after being criticized severely for condemning a discplinary committee ruling.

"There is no pressure at all from any quarters whatsoever. If I'm not tough mentality, I would have probably quit a long time ago. I think this is the right time to go," he added.

"I will like to thank President Kwesi Nyantakyi for given me the opportunity to serve the federation, members of the GFA and soccer fans for their support and criticisms."
