Asante Kotoko captain Amos Frimpong says his side will avenge last year's penalty shoot-out defeat to Hearts o of Oak in the President Cup when they meet in Accra on Friday.

Hearts won  5-4 on penalties to be crowned champions of the Republic Day tournament for a fourth time.

Amos, who captained Kotoko to beat Hearts 1-0 in Accra two months ago in the league, says they are ready to win a third silverware.

"The game is going to be difficult but I believe we will surely carry the day," he said in an interview.

"This is an opportunity and the right time to avenge the defeat we suffered against them in this same cup game last year."

He added: "I think this time round, things are going to be different as we’re well prepared and motivated to face them in this match."
