Ghana leader John Mahama has joked that he wants his favourite actor Denzel Washington to play the role of the Ghana President in the movie of the country's 2014 World Cup saga.

President Mahama is still ruing the pain the $3 million airlifted to Brazil to settle appearance fees of agitating Black Stars players cost the image of the west African country.

Hollywood is planning to make a movie out of the sordid experience and when pushed to the wall, president Mahama said he would love to see his favourite actor Denzel Washington playing his role.

“Well, it is not in the grapevine… I don’t know whether there will be a role for me … but I hope that it is as closed to the truth as possible," Mahama said.

"Hollywood is about making things exciting and so there will be all the exaggeration and if it sparks a whole Hollywood movie then maybe we’re salvaging something out of it.” Mahama stated.

The four-time African champions threatened to boycott their third group game against Portugal at the 2014 World Cup over delays in paying their appearance fees.

Ghana had to quickly arrange for the whopping sum to be flown to the South American country to calm nerves.
