PRESS RELEASE: SWAG to celebrate International Day of the Sports Journalist with a lecture

The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), will on Saturday, July 2, mark the International Day of the Sports Journalists with a lecture.

The lecture, which would commence at 9:00am, would be held at the Media Center of the Accra Sports Stadium.

The lecture would be under theme, the ethical challenges of today’s sports journalists and how to deal with them”.

A statement from the secretariat, said the lecture would be delivered by ace journalist, Mr. Kweku Sakyi-Addo.

The statement said, the veteran journalist would use the occasion to share his rich experience with sports journalists.

According to the statement, the lecture is opened to all sports journalists.

It said the lecture would also be attended by past presidents of the Association, Patrons and other veteran sports journalists, who would also take their turns to share their experience with young journalists.

It encouraged all sports journalists to join the association in the celebration.

The International Day of the Sports Journalists Day is a global professional observance on July 2.

It was established by the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) in 1994 to mark the 70th anniversary of its foundation.

It was also aimed at  commemorating the creation of AIPS and to celebrate the achievements of members of the sporting media and also to encouraging sports journalists to strive for excellence in their work and to set an example to the world – not only to the world of sport, but to the world at large.
