Q&A: John Mensah on his Stade Rennais move and 2013 AFCON miss
John Mensah has spoken about his exlusion from Ghana's AFCON squad to Stade Rennes

John Mensah says he is very happy to rejoin Rennais in France after convincing Frédéric Antonetti to offer him a six month loan deal at the Route de la Lorient.

John, how did you welcomed the proposed contract?

Stade Rennais agreed that I train here and the coaches were convinced with my training with the first team squad.

I am very happy to return to this club. Here, it's like my second home.

Do you feel ready  and fit to play again?

I do all the workouts with the team and the coach is the one who decides, but I'm ready.

I feel good. I am pleased to grow with my new partner in defence. I have not played after the Africa Cup of 2012.

It is important that I find my level with Rennes.

How do you explain your recurring injuries after your departure from Rennes?

In Lyon, I did not keep up with my fitness. I trained like everyone else. Here in Rennes, I had a special program. When I came to train here in November, Nicolas Dyon, the physical trainer, took me their an individual training programme.

Are you not disappointed to miss out of the 2013 Nations Cup?

Since I had no club, it was difficult for the coach to call me.
