Ghana midfielder Rabiu Mohammed has set off on the road to recovery from a nagging thigh injury after undergoing surgery in Germany.

The 23-year-old Black Stars defensive midfielder went under the knife on Monday to correct and drain out a bloody patch from his thigh.

Rabiu is expected to spend six weeks in the treatment room before returning to training for his club.

With the duration of his sideline, the former Liberty Professionals midfielder is automatically ruled out of Ghana's 2014 World Cup qualifier against Egypt next month.

Rabiu has struck a formidable partnership with Mubarak Wakaso and Kwadwo Asamoah during the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
