Midfielder Rahim Ayew is delighted to have made a return from a lengthy injury layoff to play for the reserve side of Lierse over the weekend.

The Ghana international after starting the season impressively has been blighted by a series of injury which has seen him out of action for over three months now.

The 23-year-old after making a triumphant return to the reserve side of his Belgian club spoke of his difficult time with injuries.

“It has been very difficult for me because as you know I started the season very well until my spell with injuries,” he told Accra-based Radio XYZ.

“But it is part of the game and I thank God that I am back on the pitch and I believe I still have a lot to offer for my club.”

Ayew is also happy to be available to help Lierse in the playoffs which start in a fortnight.

“The doctors have given me two weeks which coincides with the playoffs so I am looking forward to it.”
