Rahim Ayew warns Ghanaian players against joining Zamalek

Midfielder Ibrahim ‘Rahim’ Ayew has warned Ghanaian players against joining Egyptian side Zamalek.

The Ghana international had a torrid time with the Cairo giants in his two years at the side.

Ayew quit the side last week to join Belgian outfit Lierse to end his frustration at the lack of playing opportunities in Egypt.

His predicament came just after Junior Agogo suffered a similar fate at Zamalek which nearly ended his career.

Kotoko striker Alex Asamoah was on the verge of joining Zamalek this week but opted to join the coastal club Ismaili after Ayew told him of bad treatment by the Cairo side.

“I was approached by Zamalek earlier but I turned down the offer after Rahim Ayew (ex-Zamalek) warned me,” Asamoah.

“Ayew told me that African players have no role at Zamalek in the meantime.”

Asamoah is expected to complete his move to Ismaili this week.
