Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila has hailed the character of the Local Black Stars after reaching the semi-finals of the CHAN tournament.

The Ghanaian produced an improved performance to beat DR Congo 1-0 to set-up a semi-final clash against perennial rivals Nigeria on Wednesday.

Sumaila, who plays for South African side Mamelodi Sundowns, has tipped the team to win the title.

“This was the way we started our project in the Mozambique in the All Africa Games in Maputo in 2011 under Coach Kwesi Appiah and Maxwell Konadu,” he said

“I know many people had little confidence in this team by gradually they have made a final four and definitely will surely beat Nigeria to reach the grand finale.

Asante Kotoko defender Kwabena Adusei score the only goal from the spot kick in the 67th minute.
