Ghana midfielder Mohammed Abu concedes his move to Rayo Vallecano is a draw back to his career.

The 21-year-old joined the Spanish club at the start of the campaign on a season's-long loan deal from Norwegian side Stromgodset.

The Right to Dream Academy graduate has however found regular first team action very difficult to come by at Rayo but remains upbeat of his future.

"It has been quite difficult," he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

"One week you are in the team, the following week you are not so it's very difficult.

"But as a professional player you face tough times and you have to face it head on, you don't run away.

"I will continue to work hard because I believe in myself and hopefully things will go well."

Abu was part of Ghana's squad at the last edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
