Real Madrid's Marco Asensio on Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool transfer lists

Published on: 21 February 2018

Zinedine Zidane lauded his two wide-men, Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez, after Real Madrid came out on top in a eight-goal thriller against Real Betis. Stevie Nicol doesn't believe movement is on the horizon for Toni Kroos or Christian Pulisic, but feels Alexandre Lacazette's future with Arsenal is in question.

Clubs are slowly turning their eyes toward the summer window, and Transfer Talk has the updates on all the latest rumours.

Premier League trio in for Asensio

Real Madrid's Marco Asensio will soon be a wanted man, with Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool among those reported to be keen.

The Sun, citing reports in Spain, says Madrid have received five offers for the midfielder, who has struggled for regular first-team starts under Zinedine Zidane.

Asensio shone as a substitute in the Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain and scored twice as a starter in the 5-3 victory over Real Betis.

And the Sun says whether he stays or goes could now depend on whether Zidane remains as coach.

Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are waiting if it appears likely that the 22-year-old will seek a fresh start elsewhere.

Bayern ready to spend big on Pulisic

Hot on the heels of reports that Chelsea could use Michy Batshuayi in an attempt to sign Christian Pulisic comes news that Bayern Munich are ready to make a big-money move for the Borussia Dortmund midfielder.

The Mail reports that United States international Pulisic is a Chelsea target amid continuing speculation that Eden Hazard could leave for Real Madrid.

But Bayern are long-term admirers of the 19-year-old, and although Dortmund would be reluctant to sell "they know their domestic rivals are prepared to spend big money."

The Mail adds that BVB "would want around £88 million for Pulisic," but says that would not necessarily rule Chelsea out.

Dortmund want to keep on-loan Blues striker Batshuayi, and the Londoners "know the fine form he has shown will boost his value" -- something that could play a role if talks over a Pulisic price tag take place.

De Vrij keen on Man United move

We now know Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij will be on his way in the summer -- and that, according to the Mirror, is good news for Manchester United

Netherlands international De Vrij is keen to move to Old Trafford, the report says.

It adds that United "are watching developments closely and Lazio believe De Vrij already has an offer in place -- which is why they stopped discussions about extending his stay."

Jose Mourinho wants to revamp his defence, with both Chris Smalling and Phil Jones potentially on their way and at least one new centre-back coming in.

But other clubs are also keen on De Vrij, with the Mirror adding that "Liverpool considered him last summer, while Everton were interested in January and Arsenal have been looking."

Tap-ins

-- Belgian club STVV want on-loan Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom to join them permanently, and the London Evening Standard reports that the Gunners would allow him to do so.

Akpom scored the winner against Anderlecht at the weekend, and the Standard says Arsenal "would not stand in his way should he want to move on after failing to make the grade in Arsene Wenger's first team."

-- Southampton defender Florin Gardos will play for Universitatea Craiova, in his native Romania, until he becomes a free agent at the end of the season, the Mirror reports.

It says has Gardos "cost Saints a whopping £680,000 per appearance after playing only 18 times after arriving from Steaua Bucharest for £6m in 2014."
