General Secretary of the Referees Association of Ghana Joseph Ayitey Mensah has called on Ghana Football Association to deal with Berekum Chelsea following reports that their fans mercilessly beat referee Nuhu Liman during their 1-1 draw with Dreams FC over the weekend.

In the aftermath of the Blues stalemate with Dreams FC in the Ghana Premier League at the Golden City Park last Sunday, reports emerged that referee Liman was mercilessly manhandled and collapsed in the process.

However, during an interview with Kumasi-based radio station, Oyerepa FM, the club's chief, Nana Kwame Nketia came out strongly to refute the claims, branding it as pure fictional.

Reacting to the reports, retired referee, Joseph Ayitey urged the nation's football governing body to investigate the matter and hand punishment to the culprits.

"The GFA should deal with this issue concerning ref Nuhu Liman as early as possible to deter other clubs from doing so,they shouldn't waste time at all," he told Oyerepa FM.

"The FA should take immediate action other than that,it will bring the game into disrepute. If they want their directors to officiate for them, they should say so and stop this hooliganism in Berekum, the football fraternity should tell the Berekum people to desist from what they are doing because it's outmoded at this age of the world in a premier league match, not even colts match will you see such incidence."

"You hear club officials say the referee was not beaten but lifted up and you want who to believe this. It's unprofessional and very bad. The FA should be quick on this particular issue, very fast."

Chelsea currently sit 11th on the log with one point while Dreams have moved to fourth with four points.
