Striker Baba Adamu Amando has urged referees to give maximum protection to star players in the upcoming Premier League.

The 31-year-old is one of two ex Ghana internationals to have signed to play for league holders, Berekum Chelsea in their bid to re-launch their careers.

But Amando insists for this to be successful, they need some sort of protection from match officials in the league which has proved to be very physical at times.

“I am not asking for any special treatment but we need to be protected,” he said.

“All over the world, star players are given some protection so I don’t see the reason why that can’t be done here.”

Armando and his Chelsea team travel to Accra on Sunday for the league opener with Mighty Jets.
