Lorient striker Majeed Waris marked his return with two significant assists to earn his side all three points in a 3-2 win over AS Nancy at the Stade Macel-Picot.

Waris was suspended for Lorient’s previous clash with giants PSG following accumulation of cards but returned with a big bang.

The home side took a 2-goal lead but the inspirational Waris doubled his efforts to provide Cameroonian Bnejamin Moukandjo with an intelligent pass to reduce the tally to 2-1 in the 66th minute.

The visitors leveled the scores 20 minutes later though Lautoa before Waris provided his second assist for Mvuemba who slotted home beautifully to steal the all-important win for the bottom club.

The swift Ghana striker has since provided six assist so far in the season for Lorient, scoring seven himself.

Team mate and countryman Alhassan Wakaso made way for Bellugou in the 46 after picking up yet another mandatory booking.

With eight matches to end the season, the struggling side can escape relegation if they can maintain their spirited form against Nancy.
