Revealed: Athletico Madrid nearly grabbed the signature of Dede Ayew

Black Stars wing attacker, Andre Morgan Dede Ayew nearly signed for 2013 La Liga champions Athletico Madrid before finally agreeing a deal with Swansea City on the English Premier League, Ghanasoccernet.com has gathered.

The son of the Maestro was on the wanted list of many European clubs including Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspurs, Athletico Madrid and Italian giants AS Roma but the boy's father has disclosed that the La Liga giants nearly scooped the former Marseille winger.

According to the three times African Footballer of the Year, Athletico  Madrid were leading the race to secure the signature of the until Swansea City came calling.

"Because of Andre I had to stay in France for a whole month trying to negotiate for him as his manager. I had some meetings with Roma and Athletico".

"Since Andre was a free agent any club that was interest should be able to pay within the region of $22m and $25m. Athletico was moving closer but Swansea came with a better offer".

Andre Ayew signed a four year contract with Cardiff based Swansea City  at an undisclosed fee and is believed to be paid £90,000 a week.
