Ghana midfielder Michael Essien will wear the unusual No.2 jersey at Greek side Panathinaikos this season, Ghanasoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.
The number which will be used by Essien this season, following his recent move to the Greek giants, remained a mystery until noon yesterday when the club departed for their pre-season training.
This is because the players of the Greens had on their Puma bags their numbers which showed the number the Ghanaian star will play in.
The Ghanaian star did not choose the No. "5" which he had at Chelsea, "15" at AC Milan, No 4 at Real Madrid or No. 8 at Lyon or in the Ghana national team.
Instead he chose "2", which will struggle to hold sway with supporters of Panathinaikos.
The number was previously held by one of their star players Spyropoulos.
