Asante Kotoko have revealed they spend close to US$1000 every month for the medical upkeep of striker Yahaya Mohammed.

The 25-year-old has attracted the wrath of club officials for signing a pre-contract agreement with Libyan club Ittihad Tripoli without their consent.

The Ghana striker is within the last six months of his existing deal at Kotoko and therefore qualifies to open negotiations with other clubs under the Bossman rule.

Kotoko officials however believe the former OGC Nice forward has operated in bad faith as they were still in negotiations over a two-year contract renewal.

The club’s interim chief Opoku Nti has now revealed a monthly expenditure of close to US$1000 to treat an unspecified medical condition of the absconded striker.

“Yahaya was given everything by this club,” Nti said.

“We have been in negotiations before he travelled to South African with the Ghana team for the CHAN tournament.

“We spend GH2000 (close to $1000) every month on him [Yahaya] for a medical condition I am not prepared to reveal.

“That is how well we treated and him and for him now to turn on us this way?”

Kotoko have hinted at legal action against the dread-locked attacker who has been with them since 2011.
