REVEALED: Local Black Stars owed $240,000 for CHAN win over Nigeria
Ghana's CHAN team owed bonuses from CHAN participation

Management chairman of Ghana’s CHAN team Fred Pappoe has revealed the team is still owed outstanding bonuses in the region of $240,000 EIGHT MONTHS after participating in the tournament.

The amount is the outstanding winning bonus owed the local Black Stars by the state for their epic penalty shootout win over Nigeria in the semi finals of the competition staged in South Africa.

The home-based Black Stars clinched a famous 4-1 win in the shootouts against rivals Nigeria in January 29 after the game had ended goalless in regulation and extra time at the Free State Stadium.

The entire Ghanaian delegation including players, members of the technical and management staff are however still owed monies months after achieving the feat.

This shocking revelation was made Fred Pappoe while giving evidence before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry sitting on Friday.

"One challenge and I think it is the most pertinent one is that the team has not been paid it's bonus for its last win at the CHAN tournament against Nigeria," Pappoe disclosed.

"This match was played on the 29th of January and we have still not been paid.

"I think it is the region of $240,000."

The local Black Stars eventually qualified to the finals of the competition where they run out of luck to lose on shootouts to Libya again after the game had ended goalless.
