Richmond Boakye-Yiadom plays down Ghana debut heroics

Teenage striker Richmond Boakye Yiadom says scoring on his Ghana debut is not enough to earn him a place in the team.

The 18-year-old came off the bench to head in the equalizer in Wednesday's 1-1 draw with China in Xi'an.

Boakye-Yiadom might have justified his inclusion in the Black Stars squad for next month's 2013 Nations Cup qualifier against Malawi in Accra.

But the Juventus new signing is staying grounded and admits he needs to do more.

"It is too early to judge. There are so many players around and the only thing is to train hard and focus on whatever you want to do in life," Boakye-Yiadom said.

"The rest of them I will just leave to the almighty God to decide my fate."

In April 2010 Boakye also scored on his Serie A debut for Genoa.

He came off the bench as a substitute and scored the opening goal in the 1-1 draw with Livorno.
