The Black Maidens returned home on Saturday night

Ghana's Black Maidens arrived back home on Saturday after their U-17 FIFA Women's World Cup ended in the quarter-finals in Costa Rica.

The national side lost out 4-3 on penalties after drawing 2-2 in regulation time with Italy on Thursday, thus ending their hopes of reaching the medal zone.

The players, all dressed in official Ghana team kits, flew into Accra's Kotoka International Airport before 8:00pm (20:00 GMT) after over 16 hours of travel.

Executive Committee member of the Ghana Football Association, Linear Addy together with other GFA officials welcomed the team.

A band of supporters, drumming and signing waited outside the arrival hall to cheer on the team as they made their way on the coach.

Dubious officiating by robbed the Ghana girls from reaching the semi-final of the competition in Costa Rica

My question to GFA, the Ministry of Sports and the Ghana Gov't is this: "Are you going to lodge a complaint to FIFA about this clear robbery or not". Africans are always robbed at major tournaments and nothing is done". This practice will not stop unless someone rises up and say a big "No we have had enough" We all know our so called CAF will do nothing, (for reasons obvious to all of us). If nothing is said or done, mind you, this attitude against Ghanaians and Africans will not stop and do not be surprised to see our senior national team handled in the same manner in a major tournament. It takes one person (country) to make a difference. Up to you GFA, the Sports Ministry and Ghana gov't.

Agreed. Until our officials start launching complaints, our journalists could start to bring the issue to the world's attention, and stop using titles like "Unlucky maidens...."

Who told the Ghana govt the Chinese and the Japanese need people populate their country. And if they do, will they come for Africans? Somebody have questions to answer about this poor girl's death . And the couple have two other black kids. Do we even have a gov't? God help us.

GSN why are you refusing to publish my comment? I'll repeat it. My question to GFA, the Ghana sports Ministry and the Ghana Gov't is this: "Are you going to complain to FIFA about this shameless robbery or as usual sit on your butts and do nothing". Africans have through the ages been cheated out of tournaments. It's time somebody did something. We all know our so-called CAF will do nothing (for reasons obvious to all of us). Sometimes, it takes one person (country) to effect a change. Believe me if nothing is done this attitude towards Africans will not change. And do not be surprised this attitude is meted out to our senior national team at major tournaments. Meeting the team at the airport with drumming and dancing alone is not enough. The motivation of these girls had been killed. Somebody has to act. These irientals gave very little or no respect at all fir Africans. And what is the gov't doing about this oriental couple who adopted a little girl from Ghana to harvest her organs. What is the afiotion policy in Ghana? Why are Ghanaians authorities giving kids to the Chinese and Japanese for adoption. Who told the Ghana Gov't the chinese

This worthless government and silly approach to everything. Go to the ports and harbor in TEMA and that is where you find the biggest thieves. The journalist are the worst . What a shame? I thought Mahama was going to be a president who cared about Ghanaians but he only cares about his fellow thieves in government .

Time to complain about poor FIFA officiating against African countries is now. Any talk about reaching the world cup semis of finals is fluke unless there is fairness in FIFA games. This is time for Ghana to get African countries like Nigeria, Cameroun, Cote d'ivoire and Algeria to table Africa's concern about poor officiating at FIFA competitions. Senegal and Ghana were denied Semi Final Births at the world cup because of poor officiating. The recent FIFA under 17 competition saw one of the worst officiating against Ghana. Will the GFA continue to sit on the fence and not complain? Time will tell.

And while we are at it, what is the Ghana gov't doing about the Japanese-American couple who have been jailed in Qatar for adopting a Ghanaian girl to harvest her organs?
