Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah believes Cristiano Ronaldo was the most outstanding player in 2013 for which he should be handed the FIFA Ballon d’Or award on Monday.

The Portuguese star is in hot competition against Lionel Messi and Frank Ribery to reclaim his first best player of the year award since winning it for the first time in 2008.

Ronaldo has been second best in the past four editions of the Ballon d’Or to Argentine star Lionel Messi.

Many including Black Stars midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah believe this could be the year the Portuguese and Real Madrid star broke the jinx.

“In my opinion it will be Ronaldo,” the ex-Udinese midfielder told Goal.

“He did so well last season and this season he is continuing from where he left off and has been consistent, so he deserves it.”
