Rooney camp baffled by China rumours for Man Utd captain

Wayne Rooney has no plans to leave Manchester United for China in the coming days.

Speculation is mounting that the England and Man United captain will join the Chinese Super League before their transfer window closes at the end of this month.

But the Daily Star says Rooney and his representatives were surprised with Jose Mourinho's recent comments and had no warning the United boss was going to add to the speculation.

There's no deal with a Chinese club is in place and that the striker, 31, remains committed to United.

Rooney still has 16 months remaining on his £300,000-a-week deal and is reluctant to leave the club.

He is also reluctant to move to China and knows if he was offered a deal too good to turn down he would be forced to leave wife Coleen and three young children at home.

Just two Chinese teams, Jiangsu Suning and Beijing Guoan have spaces in their squads for a foreign signing.

The two Shanghai based clubs, Shenhua and SIPG, are not interested in signing Rooney despite speculation claiming the opposite.
