RTU fight back to thwart AshantiGold

Posted On Sunday, 7th October 2012

AshGold held RTU to a 2-2 drawn game

Ghana Premier League returnees Real Tamale United needed an injury time equalizer to draw 2-2 with AshantiGold at the Tamale Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Both sides failed to make use of the numerous chances that came their way in the first half.

Former Hearts of Oak captain Hassan Mohammed managed to beat an AshGold offside trap in the 10th minute but failed to find the net as he skied his effort.

RTU returned from the break revitalised and took the lead through Kwamena Emmanuel in the 58th minute.

But striker Yakubu Mohammed put AshGold on level terms 20 minutes later.

Louis Agyemang headed AshantiGold ahead with a minute to full time but RTU showed character to snatch a late point.

Abdul Aziz Yusif’s innocuous effort sailed past the AshGold goalkeeper.

  1. Enoch says:

I think the one point is not bad for RTU because I cannot imagine what would have happen at the stadium if the pride of the North had lost the match. My heart nearly jump out of me when Ashgold got their second goal close to the end of the match.
