Russia 2018 Asian Qualifiers: Thailand v Saudi Arabia preview

Published on: 22 March 2017

Bangkok: Saudi Arabia travel to bottom side Thailand on Thursday looking to cement their place on top of the standings by dealing the War Elephants their fifth defeat in six games.

The Saudis’ last trip east resulted in a 2-1 loss in Japan in November in what was their only defeat of the qualifying campaign to date, while Marwijk Lambertus’ team overcame Thailand 1-0 in the corresponding fixture.

Thailand, meanwhile, secured their first point in Group B in a 2-2 draw with Australia at Rajamangala Stadium in November and will now look to continue their momentum into Matchday Six.

The visitors will be without defensive pair Osama Hawsawi and Hassan Fallatah through suspension.
