Ruthless France ran rout over Switzerland in Group E

Published on: 20 June 2014
Karim Benzema celebrating France's fourth goal.

Karim Benzema, Blaise Matuidi, Olivier Giroud, Moussa Sissoko and Mathieu Valbuena helped put the French 5-0 up before Blerim Dzemaili scored a long-range free kick and Granit Xhaka doubled the Swiss total with a neat finish.

What will perhaps come as the biggest comfort to French fans is that they really do look a unified force that mean business.

Paul Pogba was the surprise exclusion from the starting line up as Giroud was preferred to help spearhead the attack and add some drive up top.

But he made up for lost time, roaring off the batch to spark another avalanche of attacks.

The French are looking good in Brazil, just imagine how good they could be looking if the injured Franck Ribery was in the squad.

Four out of six goals we have conceded has come out of set pieces! Is anybody listening? Our first ever goal that we conceded in our debut WC was from a set piece( corner) and amazingly, our last goal that we have conceded in the WC is from another set piece and ironically that is from another corner kick! How old men doesn't know nothing about modern football and is about time the youth takes over the running of modern football! Isn't it surprising that a gfa executive member confessed that he has never ever heard the name of schlupp till AA show him his videos on YouTube! Amazing! Waa look at this and what better advice can come out from this so call exc.member! I have said it and I ll repeat it today that, Germany ll score us thru another SET PIECE PROBABLY ANOTHER CORNER BECAUSE WE DONT SEEMS TO LEARN!
