Sam Clucas: Swansea set to complete signing, says boss Clement

Before joining Hull in July 2015, Sam Clucas had spells at Hereford, Mansfield and Chesterfield

Swansea City manager Paul Clement expects to complete the signing Hull midfielder Sam Clucas on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old was at Liberty Stadium for a medical on Tuesday and also needs to agree personal terms.

The Swans have had a £12m bid for Clucas rejected, but Clement is confident the player will be his.

"He's had a medical today (Tuesday), but I don't believe the paperwork's been signed yet," said Clement after his side's 4-1 EFL Cup win at MK Dons.

"I think that's very close to being done and assuming that happens, tomorrow (Wednesday) he'll be a Swansea player."

Clement is keen to employ Clucas' versatility - he can play in defence, midfield, on the wing and has been a striker.

"He has experience of playing at Premier League level, he has a lot of experience of playing in British football," said Clement.

"And I also like the story, I like his background.

"He's had to fight to where he's got to through the route he's come in the lower levels.

"He was at the Glenn Hoddle academy, he became a very strong and established player at Hull and I think he's going to be a really good addition to us."

Hull manager Leonid Slutsky said he was "preparing to play for another club" after Clucas sat out Saturday's defeat at QPR.

Swansea are looking for replacements for Gylfi Sigurdsson after the Iceland midfielder's £45m move to Everton.

It is understood that a deal for Clucas will see Swansea left back Stephen Kingsley switching to the KCOM Stadium in part exchange.
