Ex-Ghana defender Sam Johnson says circumstances leading to the sacking of Kwesi Appiah will not allow caretaker Maxwell Konadu to be named substantive Black Stars coach.

There is a remote belief that the former Black Stars assistant coach can be handed the reigns on a permanent basis with resounding wins over Guinea next month in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

But the former Anderlecht star has ruled out the possibility of Konadu taking up the job as head coach.

“I personally feel that no local coach will be given the job, taking from the fact and the circumstances that led to the sacking of Kwesi Appiah,” Johnson said.

“So, I don’t see why the GFA will name Konadu as the substantive coach for the team.”

The Ghana Football Association has shortlisted six coaches from which the next Black Stars coach will be named.
