Former chairman of Asante Kotoko Jarvis Preprah says Sammy Kuffour will need to employ skills outside his illustrious football career to be successful as the club’s new President.

The former Ghana defender is expected to be confirmed as the new President of the Ghana Premier League giants on Friday.

Kuffour will be taking over the administration of Asante Kotoko despite having no prior experience with direct football management.

The closest Kuffour has come to in football administration in Ghana is when he was named as a member of the Board of Directors of Kotoko in 2013.

The 39-year-old however remains one of the most decorated ex Ghanaian footballer in world footballer with his immense success with German giants Bayern Munich.

But Jarvis Preprah who is one of the former chairmen of Kotoko says Kuffour will need more than his boastful CV as a footballer to succeed as an administrator at the club.

“Kuffour is no doubt one of the most successful footballers from Ghana but managing Kotoko is a different ball game altogether,” he said.

“For him to achieve similar success in administration, he will need to adopt management skills and also get support from people who are competent in the area.

“I know he is an astute businessman and he will look to replicate his fine business ideas at Kotoko but he certainly cannot do it alone.”

Kuffour, if confirmed on Friday by Kotoko owner Otumfuo Oseu Tutu II, will be the first person to take up the title of ‘President’ at the club.
