Ghana’s Samuel Afum bagged a brace for Young Boys in their friendly win on Monday evening

Ghana attacker Samuel Afum announced his return to action by scoring a brace for Young Boys in their 3-1 win over lower-tier side Chiasso on Monday.

The 22-year-old armed with his incredible pace and prodigious shooting prowess netted twice in the first-half for Young Boys B with a strike each in the 23rd and 51st minutes.

Afum returned to action for the Super League leaders playing 20 minutes and contributing in the third of their fight-from-behind 3-2 victory over Thun FC at the STADE DE SUISSE Wankdorf Bern.

He fired from range (20 yards) to open the scoring and set up the second before claiming his second of the evening with a close range finish before 4000 spectators in Bern.

The former Hearts of Oak attacker’s return is a welcoming news for Young Boys coach Uli Forte who wants the attacker back to action to help in his league title ambition.

He scored five times on his debut season in Europe and is tipped to explode this term.

We are all watching….and I hope akwasi appiah is watching…because it seems like since this guy is phobian, coach AA has shut his ears and eyes to this guy’s exploits, but we are all witnesses to what afum is doing in europe! even players like yahya mohammed, acam and others have been invited to play…and we know this guy is lethal and better than all of them, ey appiah is pretending the black stars striking role is over and done with. speed, skill, technique, eye for goal…this guy has all….and we are all watching!

we get up and complain we dont have strikers….yet i keep saying i can name 10 top ghanaian strikers….and akwasi appiah cannot…trust me! if we have gyan, jordan, acam, warris, this afum guy, and we add abeyie, memphis depay, jonathan opoku and mahatma otoo…can anyone say we cant be at the finals of the world cup and win…with our solid midfield and defense?

but…trust me…we shall continue languishing cos of corruption….and another 60yrs will come and we will still have no trophies! its about time we stopped clapping for these coaches n footballers when they keep placing 3rd ..4th…3rd…4th…2nd…. cos history never remembers the runners up! its about time we started winning trophies or stop wasting the tax payers’ money on soccer and channel it into other sports that win us medals/trophies!

    word to the wise!…beats me

You are a fool. U think every footballer is a black star material. half of the players U mentioned are either playing in mediocre leagues or warming bench or both. A sticker is rated by stats. Total the goals scored by all the players U mentioned, apart from gyan, waris and Jordan and tell me how many U got. Delay, nasiru and the likes are not even satellite material. Affun maybe considered on de basis on what he did in Ghana and perhaps his pace but certainly not the others @maka

This is not the platform for insult however, everybody is entitle to his or her opinon.

hahaha. i had a feeling someone would give it to him(ie. maka). But to a certain degree, i agree with him. Gyan was not doing so well when he began with the stars. But continued opportunity gave him the chance and confidence to become ghana’s key striker as we knw him today. for eg, i see a lot of potential in warris but more playtime wud be needed to properly assess. i agree dat blackstars is not the level to babysit potentials to maturity but at the moment there aren’t many strikers dat can easily walk into the blackstars set up as finished products, not even jordan ayew, mahatma otoo, warris. strikers in top form must be given the chance, eg partner gyan upfront so its no risk, otherwise how wud we discover fitting strikers for the BS. i was hoping someone like emmanuel clottey(top scorer in caf champions league jux last season)wud mk it in the team but he is yet another potential striker who has faded out frm the BS. Its only fair dat the others get the opportunity dat adiyiah (who for me has not impressed) has bn given to shine.
