Ghana defender Samuel Inkoom was sent off while in action for Boavista in the Portuguese top-flight on Monday night at the Paços de Ferreira.

The 26-year-old was booked twice by referee Manuel Mota and was marched off the field of play in the 52nd minute as Ghana youth international Osei Barnes came off the bench to play a role in sequence of play that resulted in the only goal of the game scored by Diogo Jota.

Inkoom had been booked in the 50th minute for a bad foul and he repeated the offence two minutes and he had to take an early shower.

Boavista, who were playing at their favourite home grounds, were hoping to claim all three points and return to winning ways after losing at Sporting Braga last weekend, but had to play at a man's disadvantage as Inkoom's sending off affected their game plan.

The former Asante Kotoko right-back will miss Boavista's trip to Académica but will be available to face Sporting Lisbon.
