Sanchez move to Man Utd likely - Wenger

LONDON -- Arsene Wenger has confirmed that a swap deal with Manchester United for Alexis Sanchez and Henrikh Mkhitaryan is likely to happen, but warned that the deal could still fall through.

The two clubs are in talks about a deal but Wenger declined to give an update on the negotiations at his news conference on Thursday.

"I have not a lot to add to that. It can happen, it can as well not happen. It's at that stage, yes," Wenger said.

But the Arsenal boss confirmed that he sees Mkhitaryan as a good replacement for Sanchez, even though he didn't rule out making more signings in January.

"This will be an exchange of players, and one would replace the other. We are still on the transfer market after that," he said.

However, he downplayed talk that Arsenal were trying to sign Bordeaux winger Malcom, but didn't comment on speculation about Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

And he said there's still a possibility that Sanchez could play for Arsenal against Crystal Palace this weekend. "If it [a deal] doesn't happen he will play on Saturday," Wenger said.
