Sarfo-Gyafi scores first league goal in Maritzburg win

Frank Sarfo-Gyamfi scored his first goal of the season as Awal Mohammed provided an assist in Maritzburg United's win on Saturday.

The Ghanaian duo made their significant contributions to hand a convincing 3-1 win to 'The Team of Choice' against Moroka Swallows at the Dobsonville Stadium.

Sarfo-Gyamfi came on as a second half substitute to ensure all maximum points were safe for the visitors with United's third and final goal.

This was after Awal Mohammed had provided a long pass to Zimbabwean striker Cuthbert Malajila to open the scoring in the 18th minute.

United's lead was however short lived as Felix Obada drew Swallows level just 8 minutes after going behind.

Terrence Mandaza restored Maritzburg's lead with four minutes to go after Swallows' Gilbert Mapemba was sent off in the 32nd minute for a two footed challenge before the Black Satellites player sealed the win with an injury time goal.

The win now takes coach Ernst Middendorp’s team to third in the South African top flight – just four points behind leaders Kaizer Chiefs.
