Schalke midfielder Anthony Annan has been linked with a return to the Eredivisie with either Vitesse Arnhem or Heerenveen with his contract with the German side set to expire.

The 27-year-old spent the 2011-2012 season on loan with Vitesse and made 21 top-flight appearances at the GelreDome before spending the following season on-loan at La Liga outfit Osasuna.

The Ghana international schemer is now back with Schalke but has made just three appearances at the Veltins Arena since returning from a long injury lay-off in January.

Reports now claim he will be off in the summer with the Dutch duo, plus a couple of Swedish clubs, interested in acquiring his services.

Swedish champions Malmo are already monitoring the former Rosenborg BK midfielder's situation and it remains to be seen where he ends up next term.
